Interest from the MoD

June 2023

We are proud to announce that LU Innovations has been awarded a grant of over £120,000 from the Defence and Security Accelerator (DASA). This significant funding will support the development of our menstrual health kits specifically tailored for military personnel deployed in remote environments. The DASA grant reflects growing recognition of menstrual health as a critical need for women in all professions, including the armed forces.

The menstrual health kit we are developing will be designed to reduce the risks of urinary tract infections (UTIs), discomfort, and other health complications often caused by single-use absorbent period products in extreme conditions. Military personnel, particularly those on deployment, face unique challenges in managing their menstrual health due to the lack of access to clean water, proper waste disposal, and hygienic facilities.

This partnership with DASA is a testament to the increasing demand for innovative solutions that address overlooked needs in the field. For too long, menstrual health has been under prioritised, especially for women in high-pressure, remote working environments like the military. Our goal is to provide a sustainable, comfortable, and reliable solution that empowers women to carry out their duties without compromise.

We are excited to begin the next phase of development with this grant, focusing on rigorous testing and refinement to ensure the highest standards of safety and effectiveness for our users. LU Innovations is dedicated to providing cutting-edge solutions that not only meet but exceed the expectations of those operating in challenging environments.
